Deathmachine debut album, Engines of Creation OUT NOW

The most anticipated hardcore techno album in years is finally upon us. Deathmachine's debut full length album, Engines of Creation is officially released today on Third Movement and what a beautifully constructed belter it is to!
There's plenty here for the die-hard dancefloor fans to get stuck into, but be under no illusion, this isn't just a collection of 12" tracks cobbled together on a cd, this really is an album, with every track working together to create a well oiled machine that improves on every listen. The production is of the highest quality, but the compositions themselves show that Deathmachine is not only at the top of his game, but he's pushing the game forward for everyone.

Engines of Creation is available to buy digitally on iTunes, Beatport and Juno.  The CD can purchased direct from Third Movement HERE.

End.User European Tour 2013

It's that time again, time to get the legendary End.User out of his hole in the States and back to Europe where he truly belongs.  However, unlike last year's grueling 3 month slog across our continent, this year the tour will be short and concise, so book early to secure the Godfather of Breakcore for your event.
The tour is currently being planned for late August until late September and we already have dates pencilled in for the 7th, 13th & 14th September, so get in touch NOW!

New Release // The Sect Music vs Subsistenz Pt.2

And so comes the second part of the collaboration between the  DnB crews that haunt Berlin - The Sect Music and Subsistenz. When 2 of the finest and most forward thinking labels in this Neuroid hybrid of Techno and Drum and Bass come together; expectations are high... and we are not disappointed. In my opinion, Machine Code's 'Red Unit' represents one of the finest examples of a tilted form of this long running genre in recent times. It sounds like a form of impatient Techno, that's given up on a slower pace of life and decided to make better friends with a particularly tight snare. This is a track that resounds with clarity and both production and mastering give it the kind of high definition that begs to be heard on a huge and well balanced system. An interestingly syncopated beat in combination with squelching synths that sound like they are escaping being crushed by the weight of time itself, are set amidst the kind of beeps that are so resonant with Machine Code's sound and easily conjure the vision of being deep within some the efficient confines of a relentless machine factory. This is truly future music.

Coupled with this are 2 tracks from him known as Current Value, which provide much the standard that we've come to expect from this towering figure of an artist.  The excellently named 'Flip Step' (it should have a genre of its own), provides a restrained assault of synth and scientifically ordered percussion. A brief but brilliant half-step breakdown in the middle of the track provides some much needed air, before the assault continues. The remaining track 't350' is somewhat of a slightly newer sounding direction for CV and wouldn't go amiss at a big arena DnB rave - in both the friendly pads and the call/answer lead. I'm guessing that these 2 tracks are a prelude of what we can expect on the new Current Value album later this Summer.. but let's eagerly wait and see.

New Release // The Sect Music vs. Subsistenz

An awesome collaboration of 2 of Berlins best evolved DnB labels is set for launch next Monday (6th May 2013), with some serious technoid business from the unarguable pioneers of the sound Current Value, The Sect and Machinecode. This EP represents the first of a 2 part release - with the first appearing through Subsistenz, and the 2nd through new, and uncompromisingly solid label - The Sect Music, at the end of the month. It's been an amazing year so far for releases from the Berlin DnB crew, with Machinecode's excellent 'Under The Sun' album seeing the light of day (or dark of night), the launch of The Sect's own label and the continuation of a heavy schedule of releases set for the coming months - including a new album from Current Value and further releases lined up from The Sect.  Check the previews of the release below, and get ready to order this essential wax on Monday.

The new CORE of MethLab

At MethLab, we've always had our toes dipped in to the worldwide Core arena as much as we have with cutting edge techy DnB and dub fused electronica. We've wanted to keep the roster as diverse as possible, whilst at the same time representing artists that could quite happily sit alongside each other at any rave in the world. We know the most discerning of you like variety as long as the quality is maintained. Well, quality is not something our roster lacks. All our artists are at the top of their game in their respective fields and our latest signings are certainly no exception.

Please welcome to the stage, The DJ Producer and Deathmachine!

Luke McMillan aka The DJ Producer

If you've been anywhere near the dirty end of techno in the past 20 years, you may know the name.
If you've been anywhere near a UK or European festival in the last 10 years, its more than likely you know the name.
But, if you've had any dealing with the underground hardcore techno scene since its conception, then you DEFINITELY know the name!

Luke has been in the game long enough and strong enough to have played pretty much EVERY relevant underground organisation there is to play for. Over 20 years in over 20 countries. Damn straight. But Luke's motivation is beyond purely clocking miles, or scratching notches on bedposts.
His passion for music stems way, way back, and his hunt for the elusive and exclusive cuts made him what he is, couple this with a devastating mixing technique that rivals most computers and his over keen spidey sense to adapt to the dance floors demands and you have one of the most enthralling jocks ever to emerge from the UK's murky underground depths........The music may be filthy, but Luke understands its every nuance intimately, and his performances demonstrate this....control freakery within chaos, and no sync buttonin sight :)

Read Luke's full biography HERE

Stef Eyre aka Deathmachine

Stef has been actively involved in the underground Hardcore scene since 1998 and has now played at nearly every major Hardcore Techno event in the country.  He started dabbling in production around 2000 and released his first track on Corrupt records in 2001. The next few years were spent developing and experimenting but soon more tracks followed including notable releases on the iconic Rebelscum and Deathchant labels.  Soon, a connection was made with The DJ Producer who supported Deathmachine's sound greatly, and eventually they worked together on various releases which included the very successful track "Pixelshifter" on Rebelscum.

Always active in the studio, his focus is on creating powerful genre-pushing (but still of course danceable) music that engages the listener on a number of levels. At this time (start of 2013) there are forthcoming releases on Rebelscum (2 collaborations with The DJ Producer), Nekrolog1k Recordings, Future Sickness and more yet to be announced.

Deathmachine is currently working on his first solo album which will represent every dimension of Hardcore Techno that he knows and loves. His background in underground Hardcore along with his new work in the direction of Crossbreed and D'n'B results in great diversity both in the studio and in the clubs.

Trifonic European Tour 2013 with Hecq & Underhill

We're losing track of how many of our blog posts have started with the words “ we are proud to have...” and the reason for this is that there are few other words available when letting y'all know about the amazing artists we have the good fortune to represent. Well, we now have new reason for our pride, as we have been given the honour or bringing Trifonic over to Europe from the States for their debut European tour this summer!

Trifonic first made waves back in 2008 with their debut full length release, Emergence.  It's blend of styles, sonic tapestries, thoughtful production and real instrumentation brought electronica up to date and filled the void left wide open since the Warp Records' heyday.

The 2012 follow up, Ninth Wave is, if anything, an even stronger record and displays a greater maturity in the composition and production.  This is hardly surprising when you consider that in the 4 year gap between albums, Trifonic built up their reputation as production masters by a series of never ending blog posts, giving away all manner of productions tips and secrets and worked on the soundtracks to a multitude of games, including the very successful Assassins Creed and Halo series.

Ninth Wave is what convinced us we had to get them over to European shores.  If you haven't heard it yet, the full album is available to preview on their Soundcloud page.

As if bringing Trifonic over to Europe wasn't exciting enough, we have also been fortunate enough to secure Ad Noiseam favourites Hecq and Underhill as main support options for this tour. Ad Noiseam is undoubtedly one of our favourite labels and the majority of our roster has released on it at some point in their career. Adding Hecq and Underhill to the roster for this tour just seemed like the most natural thing in the world.

If you haven't heard the Hecq remix of Trifonic's Baalbek yet, then you need to re-address your priorities in life!  Have a listen now, it's incredible...

Underhill is perhaps one of the first supergroups of the modern dub infused electronica sound, of which we at MethLab are no strangers. The group comprises of Dean Rodell, Current Value and Cooh, who are already known to you from the MethLab roster. They are also joined by Mc Coppa and Martina Astener and on occasion by Nick and James from Senser.

Their debut album “Silent Siren” was released in 2012 on Ad Noiseam records to rave reviews. It's fusion of dub, trip hop, drum & bass and lush soundscapes makes it one of those records that gets more beautiful with every listen.

You can watch the official video of their Hiding The Light track here...

We are now taking bookings for Trifonic across Europe with Hecq and/or Underhill as main support.  Get in touch asap to secure this amazing tour package for your festival/event.

Latest DnB signings and fresh mixes // KITECH & FREQAX

With every new signing to the roster, we always say how proud we are to have them join us, the reason being is, that we are. We've been honoured to have the best names in the industry become part of the MethLab family and to help us push quality and diversity into raves all over the world.

Our two latest signings are no exception.  After pushing the DnB boundaries for years, please welcome to the family, the UK's Kitech and Romania's Freqax.

Declan Knapp aka Kitech is a young UK producer & DJ, focusing on the harder side of Drum & Bass. Since starting DJing in 2000, Kitech moved on to producing music in 2005 and found his love for dark drum & bass, taking inspiration from the likes of Tech Itch, Raiden, Black Sun Empire, Current Value & more.

With an ever-growing number of releases on labels such as Freak, Obscene & newcomers Mute:8, Kitech is still pushing the harder sound, but also focuses on the melodic values of the music. Kitech has worked along side Freak boss man Dylan and created an albums worth of killer tracks with him. He has also recently put out a new heavyweight crossbreed single with our own MethLab family favourite, The Teknoist on the Samurai Brylkreem imprint.

Kitech has already played at some of the world renowned Therapy Sessions around Europe as well as in its London birthplace and is now taking worldwide bookings through MethLab.

///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

For the last few years Freqax has been a great representative of Europe's underground dark/industrial DnB scene and has left a trail of destruction in clubs and festivals in his wake.

In 2009 they (originally a duo, but now just down to one guy, Adrian Andrei) released their debut track, The Axe, on Algorythm Recording's Scatter compilation, which was well received and has been relentlessly abused in clubs by the likes of Counterstrike and the Nekrolog1k crew.  This was quickly followed by a split with our very own Katharsys on Sinuous Audio.

2010 saw their debut release on the mighty PRSPCT imprint with the World In a Box EP, which saw them take the new Crossbreed sound to the next level.

Now on his own in 2012, Adrian has been pushing himself and the releases to the max with a return to Algorythm Recordings for a 4 track EP called The Pit and a split with Switch Technique on Yellow Stripe Recordings.

Freqax have some more drum and bass, dubstep and hardcore releases forthcoming, so keep your eyes open for more.

New Release // Current Value - Quantum Physics

We told you it was going to be a month of heavy releases, and what better way to approach the end of the month than with the announcement of Current Value's latest albu on Barcode dropping. You'll have heard several of these tracks on the MethLab Ultramonics mix that he put together for us, and certainly if you've seen him live recently, you'll have witnessed these tearing through crowded rooms. Well, the good news is that you can wet your appetite with 3 of the tracks on vinyl - now available from Triple Vision.. PLUS - you can look forward to a fresh filthcast from CV himself with the launch of the album. The album itself is set to drop on Monday 29th October. Check the player below for previews of tracks from the album - each day there'll be another one uploaded until the day of the release. Get your bookings in asap - this year is almost full (New Year's Eve is still open, but won't be for long!): jef@methlab-agency.com

New Release // The Sect Music - Angel / Protected

As we excitedly put out back in September, new additions to the MethLab roster The Sect have been very busy indeed putting together their own awesome new DnB label 'The Sect Music' (website still under construction). The first release is now available on Beatport (go buy it!!) and features 2 solid as fuck DnB dancefloor pulsators - Angel / Protected. Our favourite is probably Angel, with an epic buildup that explodes in a way that's guaranteed to make ravers go mental and get down to some serious stomping action. The flip, Protected is The Sect's familiar brand of technoid stepper, perfect for peak-time on the dancefloor. You can check out the previews below, including samples from the next release, featuring Hostile MC, that's due out on slabs of vinyl in shops everywhere from Monday 5th November. Also, check out the exclusive mix The Sect did for MethLab back in September to get a taste of how killer their DJ sets are, and then get in touch for bookings with: jef@methlab-agency.com

New Artist Singing: Current Value

Current Value ///

We're really happy to be able to announce that the other half of Machine Code, Tim Eliot, has joined the Methlab roster, and we will now be open to taking bookings for him. Current Value represents the forefront of the underground Drum and Bass scene, and is a rapidly emerging force in the harder, and more techy end of the Dubstep spectrum. His forward thinking production combined with a highly technical approach to music and lean, tight arrangement, makes for some of the most instantly recognisable music currently getting released.

His recent Crude Chronicles and Dance of the Mech releases are totally rude, offering perfect examples of his unique sound, as well as being an unmissable component in any self-respecting heavy DJ's toolkit. Expect big things to lie ahead - as he's set to release a number of remixes in March for Bjork's most recent Biophilia album. Check his last Ultramonics mix below - but expect a fresh Methlab exclusive mix soon!

Current Value

Although he's not on our roster, at Methlab we're big fans of Current Value - and we'll be posting bits and pieces on our blog from a variety of non-Methlab artists who represent the sound we're trying to push further... Check this sick clip of his recent set at Basic Base, Lelystad
